Enlistment in the united states of america
During World War I, many people were against going to war with Europe. However, there was also an equal amount of people who wanted to go to war. Uncle Sam has always been the figurehead for America and so he is in the background pointing at the reader to make him want to join. The war effort was greatly improved by the draft that President Wilson approved. His draft was met with rather unexpected grateful arms of men and women everywhere who wanted to help with war. This poster pokes at people who were not willing to fight and makes them feel as though they were being cowards and not fighting. It also implies that the war will be entertaining as depicting soldiers with smiles on their faces.
